Current Projects - Unlimited Class Hill Climb Car
DJ are proud to announce that they have been commissioned to build a V8 powered unlimited class car, design work is being carried out with Martin Ogilvie acting as a technical consultant and utilizing our state of the art 3D CAD system. Design work is now well under way and we hope to start manufacturing in the New Year.
Chassis
The brand new chassis will visually look very similar to existing Firehawks, however it will have a number of key design features and modifications, these will all further improve what is already an extremely strong and safe monocoque chassis.
Bodywork / Aerodynamics
Our existing tooling will be modified to manufacture variants of the sidepods and undertrays currently fitted to the Firehawks.
A quad element rear wing assembly based on the SM183 profile and SM101 120mm chord flaps will be fitted as standard, whilst a SM153 wing and SM101 170mm chord flaps will be fitted at the front.
Engine
A high reving ex Indy car 2650cc Cosworth XD V8 engine, producing in excess of 500 bhp. This has been purchased directly from Cosworth USA and built in their Californian workshop to our specification (engine will be mapped to run naturally aspirated and on pump fuel).
The engine is a more modern variant of the XB currently used in hill climbing and has the potential to be taken to approx 3300cc which should easily provide 650+ bhp if required.
DJ has secured technical support and advice from both Cosworth USA and UK in the ongoing development of this engine for our sports specialist and demanding needs.
The chassis will be designed to accommodate any high power, stressable engine such as a V8 Judd or TWR V10.
Gearbox
Working in close partnership with Lola Cars we are running the high reving XD engine coupled with a bespoke Lola gearbox, this proven and reliable gearbox features quick change custom ratio’s making it perfect for hill climbing or sprinting.
We have a strong working relationship with all major gearbox manufactures and would be happy to discuss your exact requirements.
Suspension
This will be all new to accommodate the design geometry required to run the large diameter tyres which are required to put the power down when running a modern V8 engine.
Brakes
Lightweight AP calipers and discs will be fitted as standard, with custom made pads.
